"Cycles" Landscapes of Western NY

Octagon Gallery, Patterson Library, Westfield, NY

7/04- 9/04

Chautauqua County is primarily an agricultural community with a growing tourism industry. How we utilize and protect the resources the land provides is extremely important.

This show explores locations that have had proposed changes that could significantly change the character, look and feel of our communities. The purpose is to encourage a thoughtful dialog about these changes while preserving the semi pristine views.

"Canyon Wall" Zoar Valley #1, Gowanda, NY, 18"x24" $600

Walking through the old growth forests of Zoar Valley is like going back in time. Over the years the health of the semi pristine valley has been threatened - from a leaking West Valley Nuclear reprocessing facility to logging interests to climate change.

Fortunately the state recently designated it a Multi Use Area in 2014. This gives it the highest level of protection and will help preserve it for future generations.
